Consanguinity

You are my sister
My blood flows in your veins
Separated as young children
The giraffe wet with tears as they pulled us apart
Off on some adventure I was thrust
And yet your memory did not fade
But only grew stronger in the passing years
Seeing you again struck a chord in my heart
As I sought to be friend and protector
Again we parted
It was unbearable
I asked only for your return
And as the years flew by you were not forgotten
Your memory cradled deep within me
Have we grown apart?
Have the colors you wore faded in your mind?
Put your faith in blood and cast out your fear
For the children we are long to embrace
